The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) is slated to commence on March 22, with a five-day gap following the conclusion of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), as reported by Cricbuzz.

The IPL is scheduled to run until May 26, concluding just five days before the T20 World Cup begins in the West Indies and Caribbean. It is noteworthy that India’s initial World Cup match is set for June 5, nine days after the IPL’s conclusion.

According to the tentative schedule provided by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to stakeholders, the second season of the WPL is set to transpire from February 22 to March 17. The league will be hosted in Bengaluru and Delhi, as previously disclosed. The official announcement of these dates is anticipated within the next couple of days, likely on Monday.

The IPL timetable is linked to the Lok Sabha election dates, and the BCCI is considering organizing the tournament from March 22 to May 26. The confirmation of the schedule is contingent upon the disclosure of the election dates, but the BCCI is confident about conducting the entire league within India.

Assurances have been secured by the BCCI from the majority of cricket associations, ensuring the availability of their players until the conclusion of the league. Nevertheless, given the commencement of the T20 World Cup on June 1, the possibility of some players making early exits cannot be dismissed.
