Cricket Fraternity Reacts as India Women Defeat Sri Lanka in Final to Win Gold Medal in Asian Games 2023

In a historic moment for Indian women’s cricket, the nation’s talented female cricketers clinched the gold medal in the Asian Games 2023.

The final against Sri Lanka was a thrilling encounter that had fans on the edge of their seats, and the cricket fraternity worldwide couldn’t be prouder of this remarkable achievements.

The final of the women’s cricket event for the gold medal in the ongoing Asian Games 2023 was played between India and Sri Lanka on September 25, 2023, in Hangzhou, China.

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur returned in this match to lead India after completing her two-match suspension and won the toss. Harman chose to bat first on a difficult pitch.

Sri Lanka’s bowling attack dominated the proceedings as only Smriti Mandhana (46) and Jemimah Rodrigues (42) reached double-figures as India posted 116/7 in 20 overs. For Sri Lanka, Udeshika Prabodhini, Sugandika Kumari and Inoka Ranaweera took two wickets each to stop India from a low total.

In response, Sri Lanka also lost wickets at the start, but Hasini Perera (25), Nilakshi de Silva (23), and Oshadi Ranasinghe (19) tried their best to keep the Sri Lankan side in the match. Indian bowlers on this pitch proved to be too much for them as they managed 97/8 in 20 overs.

Titas Sadhu took 3/6, with Rajeshwari Gayakwad taking 2 wickets, as India won by 19 runs. With this win, India also won the gold medal in the women’s cricket event at the Asian Games 2023.

The Indian cricket fraternity on social media couldn’t help but share their joy and lauded the Indian women wholeheartedly.
