The playoffs for IPL 2024 are scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad and Chennai, with the final match set to take place at Chepauk on May 26th

The Board of Control for Cricket for India (BCCI) unveiled the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 schedule on March 25, following an earlier release of the schedule for the initial 21 matches until April 7.

This decision was made due to the IPL 2024 coinciding with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the country. Despite widespread speculation suggesting that the BCCI might relocate the tournament outside of India for the latter half, BCCI secretary Jay Shah dismissed these speculations.

Subsequently, it has been officially confirmed that all 74 matches of the IPL 2024 will be held within India, with the latter stages of the competition set to take place in Ahmedabad and Chennai.

Ahmedabad and Chennai have been designated as the playoff venues, as anticipated. The Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans, finalists from the previous year, have selected their home venues for the playoffs. The final match will be held in Chennai, a city renowned for its champion teams. Additionally, Chennai hosted the season’s opening match.

The Qualifier 1 and Eliminator matches are set to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera on May 21 and 22, respectively, while the Qualifier 2 and the final will be held at Chepauk in Chennai on May 24 and 26.

The BCCI has unveiled the schedule for matches starting from the 22nd game, which will commence on Monday, April 8. Similar to the first leg, the second phase kicks off with a match featuring the Chennai Super Kings, with the defending champions facing off against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Chepauk on April 8, slated as a night fixture.

According to the schedule, a couple of matches are planned at Dharamsala, serving as the traditional secondary venue for the Punjab Kings. The picturesque hill town will host the home games of the Punjab franchise on May 5 (against Chennai Super Kings, scheduled as a day game) and May 9 (against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, set for a night game).

Additionally, two matches are scheduled in Guwahati, the preferred secondary location for the Rajasthan Royals. They will compete against Punjab Kings on May 15 and Kolkata Knight Riders on May 19. Notably, the RR-KKR encounter marks the conclusion of the league phase.
