On Tuesday, August 13, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released an updated schedule for the Indian men’s cricket team’s upcoming home season.
The opening T20I between India and Bangladesh, which was initially planned for October 6, 2024, in Dharamsala, will now be held in Gwalior. This change is due to ongoing upgrades and renovations at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association’s facilities.
The match in Gwalior will be the first international event at the newly constructed Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium. It will also be Gwalior’s first international fixture since the memorable ODI between India and South Africa in 2010, where Sachin Tendulkar made history as the first male cricketer to score a double century in an ODI.
Additionally, the BCCI has revised the venues for the T20I series against England. Chennai, originally slated to host the first T20I, will now accommodate the second match. Kolkata will host the series opener instead.
The BCCI confirmed that the dates for the first T20I on January 22, 2025, and the second T20I on January 25, 2025, will remain unchanged. The venue adjustment was made following a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal due to existing Republic Day commitments.
