India has announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in the UAE from October 3 to October 20.
The Women in Blue, who reached the semi-finals in the previous edition, are placed in Group A alongside Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the team in this prestigious tournament, with Smriti Mandhana serving as vice-captain. Mandhana is likely to open the batting with Shafali Verma, while Dayalan Hemalatha provides another top-order option.
Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, and Richa Ghosh are also part of the batting line-up, with Richa designated as the primary wicketkeeper, supported by Yastika Bhatia.
The bowling attack includes Renuka Singh, Pooja Vastrakar, Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Asha Sobhana, Sajana Sajeevan, and Shreyanka Patil. However, the participation of Yastika and Shreyanka is contingent on their fitness, as both are currently dealing with injuries.
India has also named three traveling reserves for the tournament: Uma Chetry, Tanuja Kanwer, and Saima Thakor.
