Indian cricketers Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, and Umran Malik will not be participating in the first round of the 2024 Duleep Trophy matches.

The First-Class tournament, which will run from September 5, will see India A, B, C, and D squads compete for the trophy over 17 days.

While there has been no official explanation regarding Jadeja’s absence, the BCCI has announced that both Siraj and Umran are unwell and will not recover in time for the first round of the red-ball competition.

In a statement, the board said, “Both Siraj and Malik are suffering from an illness and are not expected to be fit in time for their Duleep Trophy fixtures.”

Navdeep Saini will replace Siraj in the Team B squad, while Madhya Pradesh pacer Gaurav Yadav will take Umran’s place in the Team C squad. No replacement has been announced for Jadeja.

Earlier this month, the BCCI announced the squads for the Duleep Trophy, featuring several prominent players. Shubman Gill, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Shreyas Iyer have been appointed as captains of Team A, Team B, Team C, and Team D, respectively.

The tournament will also include international stars like KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, and Ishan Kishan, among others.

The revised squads are as follows:
