Rohit Sharma has been designated as the captain, with a total of six Indian players securing spots in the ICC ODI Team of the Year for 2023, according to the ICC’s announcement on January 23, 2024. Additionally, two players from the Australian team, the reigning champions, were also featured in the ICC ODI XI for 2023.
The Indian skipper maintained his impressive performance in ODI cricket, having a stellar year in 2023 by accumulating an impressive 1255 runs at an average of 52. Throughout the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, Rohit Sharma showcased his brilliance, with a notable innings of 131 against Afghanistan standing out.
In addition to Rohit Sharma, the ICC ODI Team of the Year for 2023 includes Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli as the other Indian batsmen. Shubman Gill had a prolific year, amassing 1584 runs in ODIs in 2023, kicking off the year with a remarkable 208 against New Zealand.
Virat Kohli emerged as the highest run-scorer in the ICC World Cup 2023, amassing 765 runs featuring 3 centuries and 6 fifties. His outstanding performance continued throughout 2023, accumulating a total of 1377 runs in ODIs and achieving 6 centuries.
