Rajasthan Royals (RR) advanced to Qualifier 2 by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with a 4-wicket victory in the Eliminator match held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, May 22.
After winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson elected to field first, leading to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) scoring 172/8. Key contributions came from Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Mahipal Lomror, who each scored in the thirties. Avesh Khan, with figures of 3/44, and R Ashwin, who took 2/19, were the standout bowlers for RR.
In their chase, RR reached the target in 19 overs, losing 6 wickets along the way. Notable performances included Yashasvi Jaiswal with 45 runs, Riyan Parag with 36, and Shimron Hetmyer who added 26. RR will now compete against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Qualifier 2 on Friday in Chennai, with the winner advancing to Sunday’s final at the same venue.
After the match, RCB’s wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik was seen emotionally bidding farewell to the fans, with his teammates applauding as he led the team back to the pavilion. RR coach Kumar Sangakkara also shared a warm hug with him.
