IPL 2024: Cricket fraternity reacts on CSK win their 2nd match in a row, defeat GT by 63 runs
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) maintained their impressive performance in the IPL 2024 by securing their second consecutive victory. They emerged victorious against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on March 26, 2024, in a match held at their home ground in Chennai.
The decision to bowl first after winning the toss was made by GT captain Shubman Gill. CSK set a formidable target of 206/6, with both Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra contributing 46 runs each to the total. Shivam Dube showcased a stellar performance, scoring 51 runs off just 23 balls, while Daryl Mitchell provided crucial support with an unbeaten 24 runs. Rashid Khan stood out for GT, claiming figures of 2/49.
In reply, the Gujarat Titans struggled to build momentum throughout their innings in pursuit of the formidable target set by Chennai Super Kings. Shubman Gill departed early after scoring just 8 runs, while Wriddhiman Saha’s innings was cut short at 21 runs due to a bouncer to the head. Sai Sudharsan top-scored for GT with 37 runs, supported by David Miller, who contributed 21 runs.
Despite their efforts, GT could only muster a total of 143/8 in their allotted 20 overs, falling short by 63 runs. Chennai Super Kings’ bowling attack proved effective, with Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, and Mustafizur Rahman claiming two wickets each. Shivam Dube’s outstanding fifty earned him the title of Player of the Match.
