Indian players Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravi Bishnoi gain big in ICC T20I rankings after India’s 3-0 clean sweep of Sri Lanka
India’s recent 3-0 victory over Sri Lanka in the T20I series in Kandy has significantly boosted the rankings of several Indian players in the latest ICC T20I rankings, updated on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
India secured the series with a dramatic win in the super over of the third and final T20I at the Pallekele Stadium. The team had earlier won the first T20I by 43 runs on Saturday and the second T20I by 7 wickets (DLS) on Sunday.
As a result of their impressive performances, Indian players have climbed the ICC T20I rankings. Yashasvi Jaiswal has advanced two places to 4th in the batting rankings, while vice-captain Shubman Gill has moved up 16 spots to 21st.
In the bowling rankings, Ravi Bishnoi has re-entered the top 10 with an eight-spot jump. His teammates Arshdeep Singh (up four places to 19th), Washington Sundar (up six spots to 40th), and Mohammed Siraj (up 37 places to 47th) have also made significant progress.
Suryakumar Yadav remains the highest-ranked Indian batter at the second spot, and Hardik Pandya is ranked 6th among all-rounders.
In the latest ICC Test batting rankings, Kane Williamson has been replaced at the top by England’s Joe Root. Root’s outstanding performance in the series against the West Indies, where he scored a series-best 291 runs over three matches, including an 87 in the final Test, earned him the No. 1 spot.
Williamson has dropped to second place, while Babar Azam and New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell are tied for third. Australia’s Steve Smith is in fifth place, and India’s Rohit Sharma has moved up to sixth.
In the Test bowling rankings, Mark Wood has climbed six places to 20th, and Gus Atkinson has risen four spots to 46th. Among the all-rounders, Ben Stokes has moved up to sixth, and Chris Woakes has advanced to ninth, further boosting England’s standings.
