IND v ENG 2024: Scan Reports Awaited for Ravindra Jadeja’s Hamstring Injury, Uncertain for 2nd Test – Report
India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s availability for the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam is uncertain following an injury sustained during the penultimate day of the first Test in Hyderabad.
Jadeja seems to have strained his hamstring, which may have contributed to his crucial run-out during India’s second innings in Hyderabad.
Experiencing visible discomfort and pain after being run out by Ben Stokes on Sunday (January 28), the 35-year-old is currently awaiting the results of his scans.
As per a Cricbuzz report, an evaluation of the severity of the hamstring injury is anticipated on Monday (January 29), raising the possibility of his absence from the second Test scheduled to begin on February 2.
“What we understand is that it is a hamstring pull and not tear; so he should be fine for the third Test certainly if he can’t play the second,” Cricbuzz quoted a source as saying.
Known for his exceptional running between the wickets, Jadeja fell victim to a run-out orchestrated by Stokes through a remarkable underarm flick.
Following India’s loss by 28 runs in the Hyderabad Test, head coach Rahul Dravid took the podium for a press conference. During the session, he was questioned about providing an update on Ravindra Jadeja’s injury concern.
“We’ll see. I honestly haven’t had a chance to speak to the physio as yet. Once I get back, I’ll speak to him and see what it is about,” Dravid told reporters.
In the event of Jadeja being deemed unfit, Kuldeep Yadav will probably take on the role of the third spinner. Nevertheless, the team will undoubtedly feel the absence of Jadeja’s valuable contributions with the bat and his exceptional fielding abilities.
It is worth mentioning that Jadeja played a pivotal role in the first Test, being India’s highest run-scorer in the first innings with 87 runs and also securing five wickets.
