Men in Blue and Men in Yellow are facing off in the first ODI of the three-match series in Mohali on September 22, 2023. Stand-in Indian captain KL Rahul won the toss and chose to field first. Mohammad Shami was the star for India with the ball in the first inning.

Mohammad Shami first removed Mitchell Marsh in the first over itself. Then after Ravindra Jadeja had dismissed David Warner for 52 after a good stand with Steve Smith (41); he came back and gave India another breakthrough, castling the Australian vice-captain.

Mohammed Shami also accounted for dangerous Marcus Stoinis for 29 runs and completed his five-wicket haul with wickets of Matthew Short and Sean Abbott.

The cricket fraternity was all praises for him on social media as the pacer did well when he got an opportunity in the absence of Mohammed Siraj.
