T20 World Cup 2024: Jos Buttler slams Harmeet Singh for 5 sixes in an over as England qualify for semis
Jos Buttler led England to a dominant 10-wicket victory over the USA in their Super 8s match of the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados, securing their spot in the semi-finals.
Choosing to bowl first after winning the toss, Buttler included Chris Jordan in the lineup in place of Mark Wood. The USA struggled on a slow pitch at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, with Nitish Kumar (30) and Corey Anderson (29) being the top scorers as the team was bowled out for 115 runs.
Adil Rashid was instrumental in the middle overs, taking 2 for 13, while Sam Curran also claimed two wickets. Chris Jordan’s remarkable performance saw him take 4 wickets for just 10 runs, including a hat-trick in the 19th over, marking the first hat-trick by an England bowler in T20 World Cup history.
In response, Phil Salt provided steady support with 25 runs off 21 balls. Jos Buttler, however, stole the show with an explosive 83* off 38 balls, hitting 6 fours and 7 sixes. England chased down the target in just 9.4 overs without losing a wicket.
Buttler’s assault on Harmeet Singh in the 9th over was particularly notable, as he hit five sixes, including four consecutive, leading to 32 runs in the over.
