IPL 2024: “Problem for us throughout the season,” KL Rahul points out LSG’s major shortcoming after latest loss to Delhi Capitals
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced a comprehensive 19-run loss against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 14.
DC, batting first after winning the toss, posted a formidable total of 208/4. Tristan Stubbs (57* off 25) and Abishek Porel (58 off 33) played crucial innings for DC, with contributions from Shai Hope (38 off 27), Rishabh Pant (33 off 23), and Akshar Patel (14* off 10).
In response, LSG struggled early, losing four wickets within the powerplay, eventually ending their innings at 189/9.
Despite Nicholas Pooran’s quick 61 off 27 balls and Arshad Khan’s unbeaten 58 off 33 balls, Lucknow’s chances of making the playoffs now seem slim.
KL Rahul, the captain of LSG, admitted that their inability to chase down targets has been a persistent issue throughout the season. He highlighted the impact of losing early wickets in the powerplay against DC.
Rahul also commended the aggressive approach of DC batsmen, even as they lost wickets at regular intervals.
LSG currently has 12 points with one league match remaining, while DC has completed their league fixtures with seven wins and as many defeats.
