IPL 2024: Cricket fraternity reacts as Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 108*, Shivam Dube’s 66 propel CSK to 210/4 against LSG

Ruturaj Gaikwad showcased remarkable batting skills, achieving a significant milestone as he became the first Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain to score a century in Match 39 of the IPL 2024 season at Chepauk on April 23.

In the batting innings, CSK faced an early setback with the dismissal of Ajinkya Rahane for just 1 run in the opening over. Daryl Mitchell (11) and Ravindra Jadeja (16) followed suit, departing without substantial contributions.

Nevertheless, Gaikwad demonstrated exemplary leadership with the bat, partnering effectively with Shivam Dube to not only stabilize CSK’s innings but also put them in a commanding position. Their formidable partnership of 104 runs for the fourth wicket dismantled the LSG bowling attack.

Gaikwad reached his second IPL century off 56 deliveries, while Dube showcased his exceptional form by reaching a half-century off 22 balls. Their partnership ended with just two balls remaining in the innings when Dube was unfortunately run out after a brilliant knock of 66 runs off 27 balls, which included three boundaries and seven sixes.

In contrast, Gaikwad concluded with an unbeaten 108 runs off 60 deliveries, comprising 12 fours and 3 sixes. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni’s boundary off the last ball elevated CSK’s total to a formidable 210/4 after 20 overs.

The remarkable performance by Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube garnered widespread acclaim from the cricket community on the social media platform X.
