IND v ENG 2024: KL Rahul ruled out, Jasprit Bumrah rested for the 4th Test

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced that Jasprit Bumrah, the pace spearhead, will be absent from the upcoming fourth Test against England in Ranchi due to workload management reasons.

Additionally, KL Rahul, a prominent batter, remains sidelined as he is yet to make a full recovery, consequently ruling him out of the match scheduled to commence on February 23rd.

In a media release, BCCI stated: “Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the squad for the 4th IDFC First Bank Test against England in Ranchi. The decision was taken keeping in mind the duration of the series and amount of cricket he has played in recent times.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul is ruled out of the 4th Test. His participation in the final Test match in Dharamsala is subject to fitness.

Mukesh Kumar, who was released from the squad for the third Test in Rajkot, has joined the squad in Ranchi.”

India faces a challenging decision ahead regarding the selection of replacements for Bumrah in the playing XI. They may consider options such as seamers Mukesh Kumar or Akash Deep, or opt for an additional spinner like Akshar Patel or Washington Sundar.

India’s updated squad for the Ranchi Test: Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Devdutt Padikkal, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep.
