Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) revived their IPL 2024 playoffs aspirations with a convincing 47-run triumph over Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday (May 12).
After being asked to bat first, RCB compiled 187/9 in their quota of 20 overs. Rajat Patidar led the charge with 52 runs off 32 deliveries, ably supported by Will Jacks (41 off 29), Cameron Green (32* off 24), and Virat Kohli (27 off 13).
Rasikh Salam stood out for DC with the ball, clinching two wickets while conceding 23 runs in his three overs. Khaleel Ahmed also chipped in with two wickets, conceding 31 runs in his four overs.
In response, Delhi’s batting faltered, collapsing for a mere 140 runs in 19.1 overs. The batting lineup struggled, with six batsmen failing to reach double digits. Akshar Patel fought a lone battle, scoring 57 off 39 balls.
Yash Dayal shone for RCB with the ball, claiming three wickets for 20 runs in 3.1 overs. Lockie Ferguson (2/23), Cameron Green (1/19), and Mohammed Siraj (1/33) also contributed significantly with their bowling.
The cricket fraternity lauded RCB for their comprehensive performance, which keeps them in contention for the tournament.
