Yashasvi Jaiswal receives a nomination for the ICC Player of the Month award for February 2024

Indian young talent Yashasvi Jaiswal receives a nomination for the esteemed ICC Player of the Month award for February 2024, credited to his remarkable display during the ongoing five-match Test series against England.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the contenders for the ICC Player of the Month award for February 2024 on Monday, March 4. Among the nominees are New Zealand’s batting sensation Kane Williamson, Sri Lanka’s opener Pathum Nissanka, and Jaiswal.

Jaiswal’s exceptional contributions played a pivotal role in Team India’s triumphs in Vizag and Rajkot, leading to their series victory over England, with the fifth Test match scheduled for March 7.

During the second Test, he exhibited his batting prowess by amassing an impressive 209 runs in the first innings, laying a solid groundwork for India’s victory.

His exceptional performance persisted in Rajkot, where he achieved a remarkable 214* runs, playing a significant role in India’s emphatic triumph by an enormous margin of 434 runs over England.

Throughout the ongoing Test series, Jaiswal has accumulated a total of 655 runs in merely 8 innings, demonstrating remarkable consistency in his batting performances. He now aims to surpass the 700-run mark in the fifth and final Test against England, scheduled to commence on March 7 in Dharamshala.

In February, Jaiswal achieved an impressive feat by accumulating 560 runs, showcasing an outstanding average of 112 runs per inning. Notably, he hit a remarkable total of 20 sixes during the month.

In contrast, both Kane Williamson and Pathum Nissanka delivered exceptional performances in February. Williamson played a pivotal role in New Zealand’s historic Test series triumph over South Africa, gathering a total of 403 runs across four innings at home.

Meanwhile, Nissanka made headlines by becoming the first Sri Lankan batsman to score a double century in the ODI series against Afghanistan. His outstanding innings of 210* runs in the first ODI laid the foundation for Sri Lanka’s dominance. Nissanka’s consistent form throughout the series, including another century in the final match, earned him widespread acclaim.
