India tour of Sri Lanka 2024: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli included in ODI’s squad as BCCI announces the team for both T20 and ODI series
The BCCI selection committee announced India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka on Thursday, July 18.
Skipper Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli will be participating in the series, despite earlier speculations about their availability. However, pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been given rest for the Sri Lanka tour.
Shubman Gill has been named vice-captain, and Shreyas Iyer returns to the squad after being dropped from the BCCI central contract earlier this year.
KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant will serve as the wicketkeepers. All-rounder Hardik Pandya has been rested, making way for Shivam Dube.
Kuldeep Yadav leads the spin department, with Akshar Patel and Washington Sundar also included as spin all-rounders. The pace attack will be spearheaded by Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj, with Khaleel Ahmed as another fast-bowling option. Middle-order batter Riyan Parag and pacer Harshit Rana have received their first ODI call-ups.
The ODI series against Sri Lanka will begin on August 2, with all three matches set to be played in Colombo.
